Shooter identified as Las Vegas man with alleged CTE
Authorities confirmed that the lone gunman was 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura of Las Vegas.
According to police, Tamura had “a documented mental health history” and had played competitive football in his youth. A suicide note discovered in his back pocket alleged that he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head trauma.
Sources close to the investigation reported that Tamura had expressed grievances against the NFL, criticising its handling of CTE cases. Papers recovered at the scene further underscored his frustrations. In a handwritten three-page note, Tamura wrote:
“Terry Long football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze… You can’t go against the NFL, they’ll squash you.”
He also urged investigators to study his brain, writing:
“Study my brain please I’m sorry Tell Rick I’m sorry for everything.”

Among the deceased was NYPD officer Didarul Islam, a 36-year-old immigrant from Bangladesh. Islam is survived by his two young sons and a pregnant wife expecting their third child. An NFL employee was reported seriously injured, as outlined in an internal staff memo.
One individual who was shot remains in critical but stable condition, officials confirmed.

Investigation into shooter’s motive ongoing
Law enforcement agencies have launched a comprehensive investigation into Tamura’s motive, with particular attention to his mental health and possible connections between his football history and the brain disease he allegedly cited.
His reference to Terry Long, a former Pittsburgh Steelers player diagnosed with CTE who died by suicide in 2005, appeared to suggest a broader concern about the neurological risks faced by athletes.
The NYPD and federal authorities are continuing to piece together the circumstances that led to the attack.
UK police extend North Sea crash

Officers want more time to question the 59-year-old Russian arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following Monday's incident, which left one crew member missing and presumed dead.
Authorities are investigating how the Portuguese-flagged Solong cargo ship ran into the US-flagged Stena Immaculate, which was anchored about 13 miles (20 kilometres) off the northeastern English port of Hull.
