Ten Hag in trouble at Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen's draw against Werder Bremen has put new manager Erik ten Hag under pressure.

With a loss to Hoffenheim and a draw to Werder Bremen, the owners are considering sacking Ten Hag before things go from bad to worse.

During their pre-season, Die Werkself were beaten 5-0 by Flamengo's U20s before beating fourth-tier side Grossaspach in another friendly.

The Dutch coach took over from Xabi Alonso, who led the club to an unbeaten domestic double in 2023/24 and a UEFA Europa League final spot.

Andrich says everyone is playing an individual game

Bayer Leverkusen captain Robert Andrich said his teammates are not playing as an entity, but rather playing for themselves.

According to Bulinews, Andrich said the players are finding it difficult to interpret some of the tactics of Erik ten Hag or not knowing what to do. He said:

“It’s a mixture of both. I have to hold myself accountable too, because I am the captain, I am in midfield, I have to keep the team together. That’s why I must first question myself.”
