Football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the forward is set to complete a €27 million move to Wolverhampton.

It will make Arokodare the most expensive sale in Genk's history, surpassing the €25 million Sheffield United paid for Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge in 2020.

However, he is scheduled to undergo medicals on Saturday with an imminent announcement expected thereafter.

No fewer than three Nigerians are listed in Genk's most expensive transfers in recent times.

Recall that Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu joined English club Southampton in 2023 for €18 million, and then Wilfred Ndidi moved to Leicester City in January 2017 for €17.6 million.

Arokodare is set to top the list with his imminent switch to Molineux, should the deal be completed after his medicals.

He attracted interest from AC Milan, Napoli, Burnley and Fulham, but nothing was concrete until Wolves stepped in.

Further reports have it that Arokodare is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Premier League side.

Fabrizio wrote on X:

"Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go!
"€27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker. New important addition for Wolves."

Meanwhile, head coach Vitor Pereira has disclosed that the club is making efforts to safeguard against potential squad shortages during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Should Arokodare complete his deal, he could be away for over a month, representing Nigeria at the continental showpiece in Morocco.

Marshall Munetsi and Tawanda Chirewa (Zimbabwe), Emmanuel Agbadou (Ivory Coast) and Jackson Tchatchoua (Cameroon) are all expected to be called up for the tournament from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The tactician said, via All Nigeria Soccer:

"Since the beginning, the club has known very well what we need to balance the squad, to anticipate the time of the Afcon, because in the AFCON, we lose players.
"This is the moment we need to prepare for, to anticipate the scenario, a moment to think about everything, and the club is trying.
"I believe that we can do it until the last minute. From my experience in football, I've had some funny stories where we lost the best player in the last minute, and in the last minute we kept the best player."
