Atalanta fans have reignited their love for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman after his failed attempt to leave the club after the 2024/25 Serie A season.

Lookman inspired La Dea to win the 2023/24 UEFA Europa title, scoring a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen. In the same season, Atalanta lost the Coppa Italia final to Juventus by 1-0.

The 27-year-old fell out with the club after former manager Gian Piero Gasperini labelled him as 'one of the worst penalty takers' after losing a spot kick against Club Brugge in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League group stage match.

The Nerazzurri had a gentleman's agreement with the player to release him after the end of the season, and as a result of that, the winger unfollowed the club and deleted all the Serie A club posts from his page.

Ademola failed deal with Inter Milan

Lookman’s fallout with Atalanta escalated when Inter Milan submitted a €45 million bid earlier in the summer, only for the Bergamo club to reject it.

The Nerazzurri's opening offer was a package worth €40 million, which Atalanta swiftly rejected.

The three-time UEFA Champions League winner returned with an improved proposal of €45 million, including add-ons, but was turned down, per Yahoo Sports.

The Super Eagles had gone on a two-week strike as a signal of his desire to complete his move. He eventually returned to training but was left out of Atalanta's squad for the opening fixture against Pisa, The Nation.

Legit.ng reported that former head coach Gian Piero Gasperini reacted to Lookman's transfer saga at Atalanta amid a transfer standoff between the two parties.
