Victor Boniface's injury history has emerged after the striker's proposed move to AC Milan collapsed after he failed medical checks.
AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen agreed on an initial loan fee of about €6 million, with an option to make the deal permanent for €24 million.

Boniface missed Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-1 loss to TSG Hoffenheim, Erik ten Hag’s first German Bundesliga match, as he was in Milan to undergo medical.
According to Goal, Milan doctors advised against proceeding with the deal after his previous history of anterior cruciate ligament injuries raised concern during checks.

Victor Boniface’s medical history
As noted by Transfermarkt, Boniface has suffered six different types of injury in his career, which made him miss a total of 127 matches for club and country.
Boniface began his career in Europe with North Cypriot club Lefke Turk Spor Kulubu on loan in 2018, but returned to his former club, Real Sapphire in Lagos.
He joined Norwegian Bodo Glimt on March 4, 2019 and two weeks later, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which ruled him out for six months, missing 34 games.
This injury cost him a start to life in Bodo and a place in Nigeria's U20 squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. It was during this time that he also lost his mother.
He returned to action on September 16, 2019 and had a prolonged spell with no injury problems until he suffered another ACL tear on November 23, 2020. It kept him out of action until November 15, 2021, missing 56 matches.
The Nigerian international had another prolonged spell, over two years with no physical problem, during which he joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2023.
He had a brilliant debut season in Germany, winning the rookie of the season award after winning the monthly award four times. He suffered an adductor injury on January 8, 2024, which kept him out of action until April 1, 2024, missing 23 matches.

Boniface, during this period, missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, in which the Super Eagles reached the final, eventually losing to Ivory Coast.
He returned in time to score for Alonso's side during the title run-in, including in the title-winning match against VfL Bochum, which they won 5-0.
During the 2024/25 season, he had multiple fitness issues, including a knock, hamstring injury and thigh problem, missing 14 matches in total.
Leverkusen shares next plan for Boniface
Legit.ng reported that Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, confirmed the club's plan for Boniface after his failed AC Milan move.
