Further reports claimed that the 24-year-old had two anterior cruciate ligament operations and recurring groin problems that affected his availability in recent seasons, Football Italia reports.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that AC Milan were forced to call off the deal. He posted on X:
"AC Milan call Victor Boniface deal off as Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests.
"Despite verbal agreement for €5m loan fee and €24m buy clause with player in Milano in the last 48h, deal called off due to medical."
Meanwhile, some sections of the Nigerian media attributed the collapsed deal to the striker's social media activity.
Boniface is one player who engages fans on social media, and many have called for caution as they ask him to be professional.
The 24-year-old later responded with a post on his Instagram story, labelling his critics as 'clowns'.
He has since returned to the same social media handle to share footage of himself continuing with his lifestyle.
On Monday, August 25, he posted a clip of himself cruising around town as he returned to his base in Germany.

His comments were drawn out of context by Fabrizio, who posted that the 'clowns everywhere' was a reaction to the failed transfer.

"Don't make this a big issue. This is about some Nigerian media. This has nothing to do with my transfer ok. You have to delete that statement. This has nothing to do with Milan or Leverkusen."
