Nigeria-born Beninese international Razak Omotoyossi passed away on Tuesday morning, August 19, 2025, at the age of 39.

The former forward scored 21 goals in 55 appearances for Benin, making him the nation’s all-time top scorer.

The footballer's journey ended tragically after battling depression for some time, amid personal losses, which made things worse.

Further reports have it that he struggled with his marital life, as one of his houses was also engulfed in fire recently.

Benin Republic legend Razak Omotoyossi has finally been laid to rest at his residence in Ayobo, Lagos State.

In a viral Instagram post, Omotoyossi’s wife, popular Nigerian actress Bose Alao, was seen among the celebrities who attended his burial.

The community turned out in large numbers as seen in a TikTok post below to give their final respect to the football star who relocated back to the country after retirement.

As seen in a video, the 39-year-old was brought out in an ambulance on a stretcher, with onlookers shedding tears. The late football star had lost his sister three weeks before his passing.

Who is Bose Alao?

Bose Alao is a Nollywood actress who has been in the Nigerian movie industry for over two decades.

Alao got married to ex-international Razak Omotoyossi in 2007 and is blessed with four children.

The popular Yoruba actress took to her social media account to announce that her 11-year marriage with the football star ended in 2018.

How Omotoyossi reacted to Benin's loss to Nigeria
