Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has earned plaudits as one of the greatest African footballers of all time from the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o.

Okocha is widely considered as possibly the most talented footballer to come out of Africa and was renowned for his skills and creativity during a career that spanned about 20 years.

He played in top professional leagues in Europe, including Germany, Turkey, France, and England, and was part of the famous Super Eagles class of 1994.

Four-time CAF Player of the Year Samuel Eto'o has given a rundown of some of Africa's greatest players.

In a viral post on X, the three-time La Liga winner said it would be difficult to mention one player as the greatest due to the number of legends on the continent.

The Inter Milan legend listed three Cameroonians, three Nigerians, two Ghanaians, two Ivorians, as well as the former President of Liberia. He said:

"I have a lot of African players of all time, and it is impossible to give you three. I am going to give you a list of 10.
"Roger Mila, George Weah, Abedi Pelle, Mikel Essien, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Song, Patrick Mboma, Geremi Njitap Fotso, Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Daniel Amokachi."

2000 Olympic gold medallist Samuel Eto'o has mentioned the greatest player to have come out of Ghana.

The former Barcelona star said Abedi Pele left a mark that cannot be easily removed in the history of the Black Stars per Goal. He said:

"Abedi Pele, one of the best players in the world."

Born in Kibi, Abedi Ayew, better known as Abedi Pele by the football community, played for the Ghanaian senior national team for 16 years.

He led Ghana to victory in the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but never had the opportunity to play in the FIFA World Cup.

The Ghanaian won two Ligue 1 titles with Marseille (1990/91 and 1991/92), solidifying his reputation as one of the best African players in Europe.

Legit.ng earlier reported that African football legend Samuel Eto'o has sent a message to Ademola Lookman after his penalty saga with Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Eto'o took to his Instagram page and sent a message of encouragement to the Super Eagles star after the “disrespectful” and “hurtful” incident.
