  • El-Rufai has claimed that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election and would even come third in the poll

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has tackled the immediate past governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, over his comment that President Bola Tinubu will emerge third in the 2023 presidential election.

El-Rufai, in an earlier interview, made the claim about the chances of President Tinubu in the 2027 general election, but the FCT minister, in his reaction, challenged the former Kaduna governor to name those who will emerge first and second in the 2027 presidential election.

Below are some of their reactions:

GWG affirmed Wike's position:

"Yes, he goofed, and I have to agree, he showed his hand unknowingly by indicating that there would be three different runners instead of two. If there is a coalition, then who/which party comes second?"

Kamsulum commented:

"I really appreciate Wike’s response to El-Rufai. He expressed himself thoughtfully without straining their friendship, a reminder that politics shouldn’t be a do-or-die affair. God bless Nigeria."

Schinga claimed:

"Is El-Rufai indirectly telling Nigerians that Tinubu actually came 3rd in the 2023 presidential election?"

Goodnews Abua explained the 2027 election calculation:

"The 2027 election is about who knows the game better. Atiku Abubakar has El Rufai, who is slightly close to Nyesom Wike in the brutality of winning elections by any means. He should not be taken lightly. Bola Ahmed Tinubu has Nyesom Wike, who is a master in this game."

Mcreign lamented:

"Atiku really fumbles. Wike is really one man devil you need to have in your caucus. If Atiku had made him a VP, SS may be on lockdown for him by now and the PDP structure and machinery."
