Recall in an interview on Sunday, August 31, El-Rufai said President Tinubu has no clear path to re-election, adding that the best he could achieve is a third-place finish.
The former Kaduna state governor stated that there may be two rounds of the elections, adding that there is a possibility that no candidate would secure the required majority in the first round.
Responding to El-Rufai’s remarks, Wike said:
“El-Rufai is my friend, but he failed in this mathematics, he goofed; he should have completed it, since he knows Tinubu would come third, he should also provide who would be first and second.
“How did he arrive at who will be third and and you don’t arrive at who will be first and second?
“One thing I like about El-Rufai is that he speaks his mind, but sometimes speaking your mind, say the one that is correct.

Wike not contesting against Tinubu
Furthermore, Wike explained that he will not contest the 2027 presidential election out of loyalty to President Tinubu, who appointed him to office.
The former governor of Rivers state clarified that his decision was based on integrity and principle.
Wike explained that although the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had zoned its presidential ticket to the South, he would not run against Tinubu in 2027.
He said:
“I will not run. I have integrity, I have character. There is no way my appointer is there, and we are saying he should run, and then I turn around and say I should run."
Wike opposes Peter Obi
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that warned Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state against bringing former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, back to the PDP.
Wike said bringing Obi back to the PDP and giving him the presidential ticket in the 2027 election would destroy the party.
