Daily Trust reported that sources disclosed that the deputy governor returned to the state through the Yalo Airport.
It was learnt that Alkali arrived from Abuja and was moved to his official residence at the government house in a four-vehicle convoy.
The former governor has been reportedly fighting an undisclosed ailment and was last seen in office eight months ago.
Speaking on the development, an official who was attached to the office of the deputy governor but spoke on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that Alkali entered the office on Tuesday and left after a short period.
The source said:
“It is today that l was told that the Deputy governor returned to Jalingo unannounced. l did not see him at the time l entered the office, but l was told that he entered his office briefly and met with some senior officers."
It was also reported that the office of the deputy governor did not have a press secretary, but Governor Agbu Kefas's chief press secretary, Yusuf Sanda, explained that he had yet to be informed about the deputy governor's return.
He said:
“I saw a short video clip showing the Deputy governor in his office, and l do not know the source of the video clip”.
This came days after over 4,489 applicants submitted applications for just 98 advertised vacancies at the Federal Polytechnic, Bali, in Taraba state.
The rector of the institution, Dr Mohammed Usman, disclosed this while briefing the Governing Council at its 5th meeting held at the Rector’s Conference Room in Bali, the administrative headquarters of Bali Local Government Area.
