The exercise followed the online pre-registration of the Continuous Voters Registration, which began on Monday, August 18.

INEC, in a statement shared on its official X.com page on Monday, August 18, announced the commencement of the in-person registration across approved registration centres in each local government nationwide.
According to the statement, INEC announced its approved hours: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Mondays through Fridays.
The statement reads, "In-Person Voter Registration Kicks Off Nationwide Today!
"In-person Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) starts today,
"Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday).
"Note: If you have already completed your online pre-registration, kindly proceed to the INEC State Head Office or the INEC LGA office in your place of residence to complete your registration."
Things to note before registration
Below are some key things to take note of about the exercise:
New voter registration
The Commission states that the exercise is available to new voters aged 18 and above who haven't registered previously, as well as to individuals looking to replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards.
Change of registration location
INEC also noted that voters wishing to transfer their registration to a different location, update their personal information, or fix mistakes on their PVCs have the opportunity to do so.
Online registration
Individuals can proceed to begin their registration online through the INEC-approved portal.
Nigerians who completed the online registration process are advised to visit their state or local government area offices to complete their registration.
The commission encouraged eligible citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to register, emphasising that voter registration is a crucial initial step for having their voices heard in a democracy.

INEC records massive registration turnout
Legit.ng previously reported that INEC has reported a remarkable surge in voter registration ahead of the 2027 general elections. INEC recorded an impressive 69,376 registrants within just seven hours of launching the online pre-registration phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise on Monday, August 18, 2025.
This significant turnout coincided with a viral social media post by Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, which appears to have galvanised public interest in the electoral process.
The online registration portal, which went live at 8:30 am on the same day, is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at the official INEC website, providing a convenient platform for eligible Nigerians to participate in the democratic process.
