2027: Peter Obi told to dump Labour Party
In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng on Sunday, August 24, Akinniyi alleged that the ruling All Progressive Congress is behind the internal crisis rocking the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He explained that the ruling APC is working to ensure all political parties in Nigeria are unable to field in a candidate that will challenge President Bola Tinubu during the 2027 election.
Akinniyi said:
"The All Progressive Congress - APC is doing everything possible to kill or absorb all political parties so as to have just APC and other dormant political parties. You will recall that the prolonged leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party - PDP was fueled by the APC via the current Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike. They did the same to the Labour Party -LP with the factionalization of their 'NWC Abure led NWC faction vs Apapa led NWC faction.'
"In the light of the following, there is obviously no point staying back in such a platform that is hijacked by the machinery of the APC.
"Already, Peter Obi is a member of the coalition and by extension supports the ADC. We have seen him campaign for the candidates of the ADC in the last saturday bye-elections. Publicly, in different fora, he confirmed his involvement of the coalition from the outset and he will be part of any arrangement that will dislodge APC from power.

"I believe he is with ADC and in due time, he will officially pick up his membership card. The best decision will be for him to align with his Boss, Ex-VP Atiku Abubakar on the same Presidential Ticket in 2027. Going back to the PDP, is like going in the fire deliberately — when it is clear that the current PDP is in the pocket of the APC."
Speaking further, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, outlined the factors that might possibly work against Peter Obi's victory in the 2027 presidential election.
The analyst told Legit.ng that:
"A lot of factors will affect his last presidential election votes - not necessarily his party but some kind of low acceptance of his new political position or decisions. He may not entirely hold the majority of votes in the South East and the entire South like he did in 2023."

2027: Two things will happen if Obi contest under LP
Recall that in June 2025, Peter Obi joined forces with Atiku Abubakar and other opposition leaders, including former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, to form a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The alliance is expected to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.
However, Peter Obi urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the south to promote unity and fairness.
In an interview with Legit.ng on Sunday, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, revealed two things that will happen if Peter Obi decides to conetst for the 2027 presidency under the platform of the Labour Party.
Akinniyi also made a key suggestion that might work in favour of Peter Obi's decision to challenge President Tinubu in 2027.
Akinniyi opined thus:
"If Peter Obi decides to run under the labour party again, there are two things that will happen — low turnout of voters because it's tantamount to waste of vote and a final attempt of Obi which will make him look like a joker.
