Baba-Ahmed says ADC is deceiving Nigerians

The former vice presidential candidate made this known while speaking on Channels Television on Friday, August 22, adding that "they are deceiving us", while referring to the ADC.

Meanwhile, Obi, who has declared his interest in contesting in the 2027 presidential election, has aligned himself with the members of the coalition and the ADC, such as the likes of David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola and Rotimi Amaechi.

However, Baba-Ahmed explained that he wished Obi to remain in the Labour Party and become the party's presidential candidate in the next cycle of elections.

His comment reads in part:

“I’m in the Labour Party. I’m a Peter Obi man. I still want Peter Obi to come back to the Labour Party and contest the 2027 election.”

Baba-Ahmed says he is open to alliance

He expressed his readiness to associate himself with anyone of group whose primary objective aligns with his own while responding to a question on the possibility of him becoming a vice presidential candidate to another person aside from Peter Obi in the 2023 election.

Baba-Ahmed further disclosed that he would deputise two individuals in the 2027 election, noting that the first one had not made any comment, while Peter Obi is the second one. However, he maintained that he is "always with Peter Obi until he decides not to."

Recall that the former vice presidential candidate has recently made a move to resolve the internal crisis rocking the Labour Party when he met with all the aggrieved factions in the party. On the other hand, Obi has been criticised for not taking a step to resolve the leadership matter that is dividing the party.

Lamido speaks on preference between Obi and Jonathan

Legit.ng earlier reported that the PDP was urged to persuade former president Goodluck Jonathan to return to the party and field him as its 2027 presidential candidate.

Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa state, made the call, adding that Jonathan was the best bet for the PDP in the 2027 presidential election from the southern bloc.

Lamido's call for the return of Jonathan came amid the move by Peter Obi to return to the PDP with the hope of getting the party's presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.
