Omokri, who worked with Jonathan as the erstwhile Nigerian leader's social media aide, wrote:

"I have been inundated with enquiries about this. The public should be informed that this was not some recent or special meeting, and there is no announcement to be made now or in the future.
"This photo was taken in March 2025 at the Abuja home of Mr. Robert Azibola, who was holding a reception for former President Goodluck Jonathan, who had just won the 2025 Sunhak Peace Award bestowed annually by the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation in Seoul, South Korea.
"Mr. Peter Obi was invited, like many other guests. He was not a special guest, and preference was not given to him or any other attendee. On that occasion, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan shook hands with almost all guests.
"This photo does not signal any endorsement, alignment of forces, or anything political.
"It is just a cordial moment at a social event caught on camera."

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Bayo Onanuga reacted after Obi said he remains committed to his vow to serve only one term if elected president.

Obi had said history has shown that purposeful leadership is not defined by how long one stays in power but by the impact made in a short time.

Onanuga, a spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, said Obi referencing the likes of Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela is "wrong".
