FCT, Abuja - Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has failed to resume her legislative duty on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
Legit.ng recalls that Justice Binta Nyako of the FCT high court ordered the Senate to immediately recall suspended Senator Natasha from her six-month suspension.

The Kogi Central Senator has promised to return to the Senate on Tuesday following the nullification of her six-month sanction by the FCT high court.
Senator Natasha also failed to comply with the court order to tender a public apology in two major dailies and on her social media account.

The Senate leadership announced it would not take any official action on the matter until the review of the Certified True Copy of the court’s pronouncement by Justice Binta Nyako.
As reported by The Punch, this was after Senator Natasha’s threat to attend Tuesday’s plenary.
It was gathered that security at the National Assembly was beefed up while the Senate braced up for a possible showdown,
Traffic extended to the intersection at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja, with incoming vehicles thoroughly searched, with the passengers asked to explain their mission.
Authorities, however, insisted that the heavy retinue of operatives had nothing to do with Senator Natasha.
Many speculated that the Senate must have warned the suspended to stay away when it was obvious she would not turn up as promised in the viral video.
Meanwhile, the Senate has initiated steps to amend its internal rules to impose stiffer disciplinary measures on erring members.
The move follows the first reading of a bill sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Special Duties, Shehu Kaka.
The bill is titled “Legislative Houses (Powers & Privileges) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (SB. 708).”
The legislative effort comes four days after Justice Binta Nyako’s judgment.

Akpabio: Natasha told to pay N5m fine
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday found Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, guilty of contempt over a satirical post she made in defiance of a court order.
Justice Nyako in the trial court, in her judgment, explained that the embattled senator went against the court order when she published a satirical apology against Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President.
According to the court, Natasha's satirical apology, which was published on her Facebook page on April 7, contravened the court order, which was placed on the parties involved in the case.
Lawyer reacts to court judgement on Natasha's suspension
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a development communication Strategist, Ken Harries Esq, reacted to the verdict of Justice Nyako over Senator Akpoti-Uduagha's suspension.
The Abuja-based lawyer said the court's conviction of Natasha validates the Nigerian Senate’s power to suspend its members who err.
Harris slammed Senator Natasha, stating that the parliament is a sacred environment for mature minds, not a playground for content.
