FCT, Abuja - Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has said that President Bola Tinubu is making it easy for him and his party to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
The former presidential candidate stated this in an interview, explaining that President Tinubu was taking steps that could enable the SDP to become the next ruling party.

SDP vows to work with the people
Adebayo claimed that many of those working behind the scenes to help the SDP take over from the APC are, in fact, members of the ruling party.
He criticised the APC leadership, stating that it has turned its back on the desires and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians.
According to him, the APC government is making life increasingly difficult for citizens, who are now paying more but receiving far less in return. He lamented that the government has failed to take decisions that would benefit the people.
Adebayo also alleged that President Tinubu’s administration was spending trillions of naira on what he described as “invisible projects,” raising serious questions about transparency and accountability.
He further claimed that the N55 trillion budget for 2025 has had no tangible impact on the lives of ordinary Nigerians. As a result, he concluded that President Tinubu appears to be positioning himself as the last APC president in Nigeria, given the ruling party’s failure to prioritise the welfare of the people.
When it was pointed out that the SDP lacked a formidable structure capable of challenging President Tinubu and the APC, Adebayo acknowledged the party’s structural limitations. However, he maintained that the SDP would rely on the strength and support of the people to secure victory.

Adewole speaks on SDP's structure
He emphasised that the SDP does not operate on a foundation of criminality, bribery, or the diversion of public funds, adding that the party’s true structure would be the Nigerian people themselves.
Addressing suggestions that President Tinubu would be difficult to defeat in the 2027 general election, Adebayo acknowledged the strength of such a perception but argued that it was not an impossibility.
His statement reads in part:
“What is not going to work is a coalition that does not carry the people along. What we want to do now is to ally with the Nigerian people. That has not been tried before because what the APC tried before, which produced President Buhari, was a coalition of politicians.”
2027 presidency: Primate Ayodele speaks on Tinubu
Legit.ng previously reported that Primate Elijah Ayodele predicted that President Bola Tinubu could only be defeated in one specific way during the 2027 presidential election.
In his latest prophecy, Ayodele stated that the only viable route to victory for the opposition was for the PDP, Labour Party, and NNPP to form a coalition against the president in the upcoming general election.
The cleric's prophecy came amid growing political manoeuvres within the opposition, as many had expressed a willingness to form coalitions in a bid to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.
