A Nigerian man has narrated how his pregnant sister died under tragic circumstances at a hospital in Akwa Ibom state.

The grieving man, Ashore Godwin Clement, took to Facebook to share the heartbreaking story of her death, sparking an a mix of sympathy and outrage.

Man mourns pregnant sister who lost life

According to his post on Facebook, the hospital's alleged negligence led to his sister's untimely demise.

He narrated that his sister who was pregnant and suffering from pre-eclampsia, was being treated at a hospital in Etinan, Akwa Ibom.

The doctor on call allegedly refused to show up at the hospital, despite being called severally by the nurse to assist in the delivery.

Speaking further, the grieving man lamented that the hospital staff induced labour, but the baby died inside her.

The hospital was allegedly unprepared, with no blood on standby and the pharmacy closed.

A midwife was said to have handled the delivery and stitching, but the pregnant woman experienced cervical bleeding. The doctor only arrived after she had bled to death.

Ashore Godwin Clement recounted the events leading up to his sister's death, saying:

"On the 16th of August 2025 my sister Rehoboth Clement died out of negligence. His Excellency Governor Pastor Umo Eno PhD, the Doctor that was suppose to be on call at General hospital Etinan refused to show up for a pregnant woman with Pre-eclampsia,The Baby died inside her, instead of them to conduct an emergency Cs, they induced her for hours, the baby died inside her and she bled to death.

"There was no blood on stand by, no drugs, the hospital pharmacy was close. Before they could go outside to buy drugs the girl was weak, the midwife did all the delivery and stitching. Even when she has cervical bleeding and the nurse kept calling the Doctor, but he refused to come, he showed up when she had bled to death. General hospital Etinan killed my last sister. The government should do something about it. Justice For Rehoboth Clement Okon."
