UK-based doctor's earnings

In a TikTok video, the doctor disclosed that her annual salary is £38,831 (N80.2 million) and said it increases with every training grade.

She also said she is paid at an hourly rate, like everyone else, and that her hourly pay is £18.6176 (N38,474).

The medic noted that doctors' monthly pay depends on the hours they put in. She said her duties do not include on-call shifts, night shifts, or weekend shifts.

She further said there are four deductions from her salary, as the pay she had earlier mentioned was before tax. The first deduction from her pay slip is the Pay As You Earn (PAYE), which is £428 (N884k), and the second deduction is the national insurance tax.

The NHS pension of 9.8% and the doctors' mess are the other deductions made from her salary. In her words:

"The annual salary for a doctor at my grade is £38,831 (N80.2 million). This figure increases with every training grade.
"Now, doctors, like everyone else, are paid at an hourly rate. According to my pay slip, my hourly rate is £18.6176 (N38,474) per hour. This means monthly pay for every doctor would vary based on the hours that they are working.
"My current placement is ward-based and does not include on-call shifts, night shifts, or weekend shifts.
"So, it means there is about a £1,000 (N2 million) difference between my payslip and those that are working those kinds of shifts or hours.
