Netizens mourn late Captain Sumeet Sabharwal

Netizens have been penning emotional tributes after the plane crash.

@Minesouls said:

"So sad he called for rescue but ignored him."

@Keith Ste712 said:

"Well, the problem was already there before takeoff. That’s a dilemma and a total catastrophe to saved anyone. The engine wasn’t good enough, with the usual horse power to take off and carry those hopeful people to their destination. This makes me even more very prayerful about flying. Flying is a very serious and critical business."

@McGarnagle added:

"It’s so typical that they’re blaming the pilot because he’s no longer here to defend himself. Easiest way to keep Boeing in the shadows. The major airlines like Etihad & Emirates have sent out urgent directives re the fuel switches in their 787 fleet. I think that speaks volumes, they know what we don’t, the plane malfunctioned."

Air India: Pilot's 88-year-old father shares last conversation he had with son before plane crash

Ex-pilot uses simulator to determine crash's cause

A former pilot reacted to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) report on the Air India crash.

Using a flight simulator, he showed that the late pilots should not be blamed for the crash that claimed hundreds of lives.

In his words:

"First of all, these switches are physical switches and uh they are properly safeguarded by safety mechanism. So inadvertent uh uh malfunction or turning them on or off is not possible. It has to be intentional or it can be a technical malfunction also."

He went further:

"We cannot deny the technical malfunction... Sir, if you see the report closely, there is a discussion between the pilots, though clear instructions are not mentioned. The co-pilot asked if they switched off the cuts or something like that. How do you interpret the grey area of 6 to 11 seconds in relation to the total incident that took place in 10 to 11 seconds?"
