He spoke while appearing on Arise news on Wednesday, August 3.
Obi will lose in the southeast, says Shittu
Shittu dismissed suggestions that the so-called “Obi factor” will dent the president’s prospects in the region.
He said voters in the South-East were shifting toward the All Progressives Congress, Vanguard reported.
“If you know the amount of votes that will be coming from even the South-East for APC, you’ll be shocked,” he said.
Shittu: Akpabio, Umahi will help Tinubu
He cited the influence of key figures such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Works Minister Dave Umahi, noting that they would mobilise voters to “follow the Tinubu route.”
When asked if Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, still shaped politics in the South-East, Shittu dismissed the notion.
“It doesn’t matter. What is important is for him [Tinubu] to win. Even if by 10 votes, I can assure you Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to win," he said.
Acknowledging the economic challenges confronting Nigerians, including high fuel prices and the depreciation of the naira, Shittu argued that these problems were the result of years of mismanagement.
He maintained that Tinubu’s reforms would yield positive results over time.

His remarks come amid intensifying political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties and regional leaders seek to consolidate support across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, Punch reported.
Already, several politicians from both the APC and opposition parties have openly backed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Recently, an NNPP lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin expressed confidence in Tinubu’s 2027 victory. Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo of APGA has made similar declarations.
Meanwhile, opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have aligned under the African Democratic Congress coalition in an effort to challenge Tinubu’s ruling party.
