FCT, Abuja - President Bola Tinubu reversed the new appointments at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) because allegations against the former management of the organisation were “spurious”, according to a new report.
As reported on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, by Premium Times, the allegations upon which the leadership changes were initially made were fabricated by interest groups to facilitate the capture of the agency.

Legit.ng earlier reported how President Tinubu directed the recall of Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as director-general (DG) of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Ayo Adewuyi as executive director of news.
The decision, conveyed in a statement on Tuesday, September 2, by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, restored the two senior executives to their tenures, which were briefly disrupted by changes in NTA management.
On Wednesday, August 20, President Tinubu made a series of new appointments in NTA, including the appointment of Rotimi Pedro as the DG of NTA, while Stella Din was appointed as the executive director (ED) of news.
Tinubu also appointed Karimah Bello as the executive director of marketing, and Sophia Mohammed was named as managing director (MD) of NTA Enterprises Limited.
Announcing the recall, Onanuga said Dembos, who was appointed in October 2023, will now return to complete his three-year tenure.
Onanuga said Adewuyi will also return as executive director of news to complete his three-year tenure.

Per Premium Times' report, Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, objected to the leadership change at the NTA.
A top presidential insider divulged:
“The minister also requested the permission of President Tinubu to investigate the situation at the NTA, especially the allegations upon which the leadership changes were made."
Furthermore, the insider disclosed that the minister’s findings showed that the allegations were “spurious” and had been “fabricated by interest groups to facilitate the capture of the agency.”
After reviewing the minister’s report, President Tinubu immediately ordered the reversal of the appointments of Pedro and the other new directors, directing that the previously sacked officials be reinstated.
NTA is a federal government-owned and partly commercial broadcast station.
Widely viewed as the "authentic voice" of the Nigerian government, NTA runs a large television network in the country with stations in several states.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Tinubu appointed Abdurrazaq Nakore the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano.
The president also appointed Prof. Abdullahi Tukur Kodage as vice chancellor (VC) of the university.
President Tinubu also named Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure the vice chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna state.
