Police Arrest Seven Cultists with Human Skull After Attacking Former Member

Akwa Ibom state - Seven suspected cultists have been arrested with human skull attacks in Ikot Osura, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state.

The suspected members of the proscribed ”Ku Klux Klan’ confraternity were arrested over cult-related attacks, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The suspected cultists are identified as Douglas Ambe Esikhene, Stephen Asukwo Effiong, and Saviour Dany Akpan.

Others include Emmanuel Friday Umoh, Augustine Uduak Okon, Mary Ating Asukwo, and Itohowo Christopher Uko.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, stated that the suspects were arrested following a complaint from a student of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osura, on August 25, 2025.

John said the student reported that members of the gang ambushed and attacked him

As reported by The Punch, John made this known in a statement issued in Uyo on Monday, September 1, 2025.

According to John, the victim, who had renounced his membership of the terror group, was unconscious after the attack.

The police spokesperson added that the gang stole the victim’s Redmi 13C Android phone and N41,000 in cash.

”The arrests followed a report received on August 25, 2025, from a student of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, that he was ambushed and attacked with dangerous weapons along Ikot Osurua by members of a proscribed cult group known as the Ku Klux Klans Confraternity.

“The victim, who had reportedly renounced his membership of the group, was left unconscious with severe injuries. The assailants also stole his Redmi 13C Android phone and ₦41,000 in cash.

John disclosed that a locally made short gun, seven live cartridges, a fresh human skull, a bottle containing a substance suspected to be black oil, and a bottle of Guyanese oil, believed to be for ritualistic purposes, were recovered during a search of their hideout.

Ritualist arrested with human head, body parts

Recall that operatives of the Ogun State Command arrested a suspected ritualist, Taiwo Yemitan, in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.

The 45-year-old Yemitan was arrested with a fresh human head and dismembered body parts of a female victim.

The state police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the dismembered body had been taken for post-mortem examination.

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that local security operatives arrested a cemetery worker and two accomplices in Agege, Lagos, after discovering five human skulls in their possession.

The suspects were intercepted with a suspicious bag at the cemetery fence, reportedly placed on the fence.

The incident marks the second time the cemetery worker has faced allegations of trafficking human remains.
