A Muslim faithful rushing for Jumu’ah prayers was crushed to death in Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A trailer loaded with goods crushed the man on the ever-busy Nkpolu junction axis of the East-West road around 2:05 pm on Friday, August 2025.

The victim was said to be crossing the busy road when a black SUV on speed knocked him down, and the truck, which was on high speed, crushed him to death.
As reported by Vanguard, an eyewitness simply identified as Tunde said the young man was behind some of his Muslim brothers when the tragic incident happened.

Tunde said the victim was knocked down by the vehicle for not observing the traffic very well before entering the road.
The source added that a trailer that was on the speed lane ran over him and dismembered the body beyond recognition.
However, other Muslim faithful took over the highway in protest until police operatives arrived at the scene.
The police operatives restored normalcy while the protesting Muslims took the remains for burial according to Islamic rites.
Truck crushes WAEC candidate returning from exam
Recall that a 16-year-old WASSCE candidate, Omobewaji Sanni, was killed in Ijebu Ode when a truck lost control and ran over her and another student.
Omobewaji, a brilliant former student of Adeola Odutola College, had just given birth three months earlier and was pursuing her education as an external candidate.
Her grieving mother, who raised her single-handedly, is now left to care for the baby and is calling on the government for support and scholarship assistance.
Truck driver crushes woman to death
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a woman was sent to an early grave in Lagos state after a speeding truck driver with faulty brakes lost control.
The incident occurred at Ita Oluwo, a community on the Lagos-Ogun state border, after a speeding truck rammed into another truck, trapping and crushing the woman.
Adebayo Taofiq, the director of public affairs and enlightenment, LASTMA, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Saturday and shared further details.
