Moments later, Adeleke reached for a bundle of cash and handed it to the stunned vendor. The gesture was met with loud cheers as the woman immediately went down on her knees, screaming “Imole,” the governor’s popular slogan.

The encounter, however, did not end there. The governor directed that the woman be ushered into his vehicle, where she was offered an appointment as a chef in the Government House.

The announcement sparked further jubilation among residents who hailed the governor’s gesture as both generous and transformative.

Adeleke has built a reputation for his flamboyant and people-focused approach, often breaking protocol to engage directly with ordinary citizens.

Months ago, he pardoned a man condemned to a death sentence by the court for stealing a fowl, arguing the judgment was too harsh given the severity of the offence.

Adeleke pardons man sentenced to death

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state on Thursday, December 26, pardoned Segun Olowookere, who was sentenced to death by hanging for stealing a chicken and eggs in 2010.

Adeleke granted the clemency to Olowookere and 52 others on Thursday, December 26, on the recommendation of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.

This came a few hours after Osun State High Court cleared the air on Olowookere's death sentence.
