Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Visits to Japan and Brazil

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abuja after a two-week official trip that took him to Japan and Brazil.
His aircraft touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 1.20am on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

On hand to welcome him were key government officials including the National Security adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila; Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesom Wike; and the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Several ministers and presidential advisers were also part of the reception team.
Tinubu left Nigeria for Asia weeks ago
The president departed Abuja on August 15, making a brief stop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before proceeding to Japan. While in Yokohama, he attended the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which ran from August 20 to 22.
The event brought together African leaders, development partners, and Japanese officials to strengthen economic and political cooperation.
During his stay in Japan, Tinubu also held bilateral discussions with Japanese leaders and engaged with executives of major companies with investments in Nigeria.

According to his media team, the meetings focused on expanding trade, deepening energy partnerships, and encouraging new technology-driven investments.
Following the conference, the president traveled to Brasilia on a state visit at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
In Brazil, both leaders reportedly discussed issues of mutual interest, ranging from economic cooperation to climate resilience and South-South collaboration.
Over 1,000 northern groups endorse Tinubu
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that more than 1,000 organisations under the Northern Progressives Coalition (NPC) have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s re-election bid in 2027.
The coalition, comprising civil society groups, youth alliances, women networks, traditional leaders, and political stakeholders from all 19 northern states, converged in Abuja to announce the endorsement.
They described the current administration as the most dependable Nigeria has seen in its post-independence history.
Group lauds Tinubu's commitment to north
NPC Convener, Usman Abdullahi, said the Tinubu-Shettima government has brought renewed direction to Northern Nigeria through deliberate policies, inclusion in federal appointments, and massive investments in health, education, infrastructure, and agriculture.
He pointed to a number of strategic reforms, including the allocation of key ministries to Northern technocrats, the establishment of solar-powered learning centers, the expansion of Almajiri education, and the commissioning of a state-of-the-art oncology centre in Katsina.
Ex-Buhari minister declares war on Tinubu
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the former minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, had declared that the 2027 general elections would not just be another electoral cycle but a full-blown confrontation between the Nigerian people and the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Presidency reacted, speaking during an interview on News Central, Dalung voiced strong dissatisfaction with the state of the nation, blaming the Tinubu-led government for deepening the hardship faced by ordinary citizens.
