The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the commencement of its 2025 nationwide recruitment exercise, calling on qualified Nigerians to apply through its official portal.
In a post shared on its verified X handle on Tuesday, the Force said the recruitment drive reflects its commitment to enhancing its operational capacity in modern warfare, with a strong emphasis on engineering, medical services, and cybersecurity.

According to the statement,
“This recruitment exercise demonstrates our resolve to continually strengthen the Nigerian Air Force by attracting the best talents into critical areas needed for national defence and modern security challenges.”
Application window and process
The NAF stated that the application period will run from 27 August to 7 October 2025 and is completely free of charge.
Interested candidates are required to apply online via the official portal.
The Force explained that the platform was designed to be user-friendly, enabling applicants to upload their documents and complete all necessary forms with ease.
“The application process has been simplified to ensure accessibility for all qualified Nigerians, while still maintaining the highest standards expected of prospective officers,” the statement read.
What are the eligibility criteria?
To qualify for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) 34/2025, applicants must meet strict requirements.
- Citizenship: Only Nigerian citizens by birth are eligible.
- Age: Applicants must be between 20 and 32 years old, except medical doctors (consultants) who may apply between ages 25 and 40.
- Height: Male candidates must be at least 1.66 metres tall, while female candidates must be at least 1.63 metres.
- Education: A minimum of Second Class Upper Division from a recognised institution is required, alongside a valid NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
- Medical fitness: Candidates must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit in line with NAF standards.
- Criminal record: Applicants must have no prior convictions.
- Serving personnel: The exercise excludes serving personnel unless they have served for 10 years, attained the rank of Corporal, and are recommended by their superiors.
The Force stressed that no applicant above 32 years of age will be considered, except for consultant medical doctors.
Recruitment process
Following the close of the application window, shortlisted candidates will sit for a Zonal General Aptitude Test, with the date to be announced on the NAF portal.
Successful applicants will then proceed to a Selection Interview, where they will undergo further assessments, including medical and physical evaluations, before final decisions are made.
NAF warns against fraud
The Nigerian Air Force has cautioned applicants to beware of fraudsters attempting to exploit the process.
“The recruitment exercise is entirely free and merit-based. Applicants are strongly advised to avoid individuals or groups who promise shortcuts or demand payment,” the Force warned.
It added that all official announcements will be made only through the recruitment portal or verified NAF channels, including its official X handle.
Aspiring candidates have been encouraged to check the NAF portal regularly for updates on the aptitude test and other subsequent stages.
