Niger Delta Youths Storm NNPCL Headquarters, Demand CEO’s Resignation

FCT, Abuja - Niger Delta youth leaders blocked the entrance and exit gates of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Towers in Abuja, demanding the resignation of Bashir Ojulari.
Legit.ng recalls that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Ojulari as a replacement for Mele Kyari, the immediate past GCEO of NNPC Limited.

The presidency announced the appointment of Ojulari in the early hours of Wednesday, April 2, 2025, adding that it was with immediate effect.
The Niger Delta youths during the protest accused Ojulari of corruption and mismanagement.
The demonstrators stormed the NNPCL Tower around 6am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, causing traffic along Herbert Macaulay Way in the Central Business District.
Workers were forced to park their cars far away from the gates of the Towers due to the protest.
As reported by The Punch, the youths called for the appointment of a Niger Delta indigene as the new NNPCL GCEO.
The protesting youths carried banners with bold inscriptions, demanding the resignation of NNPCL’s boss.
According to Channels Television, security agents, including Police officers, ensured that traffic was diverted to one lane of the dual carriageway leading to the NNPCL towers in the nation’s capital.
Why Presidency should protect NNPCL boss
Recall that an analyst, Jonathan Eze, urged the Nigerian presidency to shield Ojulari from attacks by vested interests
He said Ojulari’s reforms saved billions of naira, improved governance, and showcased hands-on leadership.
Eze warned that smear campaigns targeted Ojulari, but stressed that supporting his legacy was crucial for Nigeria.

Northern group frowns at attacks on NNPCL CFO
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Adedapo Segun, received massive support from a northern group.
Arewa Progressive Vanguard (APV) has come to the defense of Segun over recent attacks from individuals, groups, and associations.
The northern sociopolitical network group warned against distractions and fanning the ember of ethnic crises.
