- Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's son-in-law, Bashir Abdullahi Haske, has denied the EFCC's allegation of evading arrest
- The businessman alleged that he had presented both oral and documents evidence to prove the legitimacy of his business with the EFCC
- However, Haske claimed that the EFCC refused to release him until his health raised serious concerns when he was in their custody
Bashir Abdullahi Haske, Nigerian businessman and son-in-law to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC)'s allegation that he was evading arrest after the commission declared him wanted over money laundering allegations.
The business mogul announced the denial in a statement by his media office, alleging that the move by the anti-graft agency was politically motivated to witch-hunt him, while insisting that he has nothing to hide.

Bashir Abdullahi Haske denies EFCC allegation
According to Vanguard, Haske claimed that contrary to the EFCC's claim, he had honoured the commission's invitation and was present before investigators. He added that he had submitted documentary and oral evidence to explain the legitimacy of his financial transactions.
The businessman further alleged that the EFCC has denied him administrative bail despite his cooperation, even when he had met all the stringent conditions. He alleged that the agency unlawfully detained him until he was experiencing deteriorated health conditions, which led to him nearly collapsing in their custody.
Haske alleged that the EFCC only released him when his medical condition raised concerns over his survival in the EFCC custody, adding that he was currently receiving treatment.
The EFCC had declared Haske wanted in a notice by the head of media and publicity of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, calling on the public to help with any useful information about Haske's whereabouts. He added that he should be reported to the nearest police station or any EFCC office.
EFCC seeking the whereabouts of Haske
The EFCC shared the 38-year-old's photograph, saying he was last seen at his home at 6 Mosley Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, and 952/953 Idejo Street, Victoria Island, also in Lagos.
The anti-graft agency then appealed for Nigerians' support in tracking the former Vice-President's in-law down by providing any credible information about him.
The commission listed its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and Abuja for reporting tip-offs.
According to the anti-graft agency, any useful information about the wanted businessman could be shared through all its official social media platforms.

The former president made the comment while receiving some members of the PDP and the Labour Party into the ADC.
Atiku and other opposition leaders recently resigned their membership from the PDP and formed a coalition where the ADC was adopted to their political platform ahead of 2027.
