FRSC blames speeding for fatal Asaba crash

Confirming the incident, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Delta State, Frederick Ogidan, attributed the crash to excessive speed on the part of the truck driver. He clarified that the vehicle involved was a BUA truck transporting cement, not one belonging to Dangote.

Ogidan stated, “They were trapped in the vehicle because the vehicle broke down, so our toll truck was there to rescue them. Four persons confirmed dead, the vehicle involved is not Dangote but a Bua truck that carried cement. It’s unfortunate that a crash will happen on that very good road, it shows that the driver was probably over speedy and lost control.”

He urged motorists to exercise greater caution, particularly during the ‘Ember months’—a period often associated with increased road travel and accidents. Ogidan also appealed to drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies.
