NDLEA Arrests Widow Using Fake Pregnancy to Traffic Illicit Drugs

Yaba, Lagos state - Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a widow, Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of illicit drugs with a fake pregnancy.

A 50-year-old fashion designer was arrested in Lagos while attempting to move the c@caine consignment to customers in Abuja.

The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, stated that Ezewuike is the proprietor of Golden Star Creation, a fashion outfit located on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos.

Babafemi stated that the suspect, a mother of one, was arrested at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, area of the state on Friday, August 22, 2025.

He disclosed this in a statement issued via the NDLEA X handle @ndlea_nigeria, on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

“A follow-up operation at her house in the Ago Palace area led to the recovery of 200 grams of cutting agent used in the production of a strain of c@caine. In her statement, Ezewuike claimed she inherited the criminal trade from her husband, who died two years ago, while she has been in the fashion business for 20 years.”

In a similar vein, NDLEA officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) intercepted not less than 90 parcels of Loud, a strain of c@nnabis weighing 48.6kg, imported from the United States of America.

Babafemi said the illicit drugs were concealed in three cartons of kitchen sink at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

NDLEA arrests prophet over alleged drug trafficking

Recall that NDLEA officers arrested the general overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Olasele, for allegedly masterminding multiple illicit drug shipments.

The suspect, who had fled abroad to evade arrest, was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church located along Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos.

According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, operatives waited until the end of the Sunday worship service before making the arrest.

NDLEA arrests former Nigerian footballer for smuggling drugs

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that NDLEA arrested two persons for attempting to smuggle drugs.

NDLEA officers arrested a former international football player, Segun George Hunkarin, and his businessman partner, Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu.

The spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, narrated how the two suspects were arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
