FCT, Abuja - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to use the Personal Income Tax Calculator ahead of the January 2026 tax reform.

Tinubu explained that the tax calculator will help Nigerians check their estimated tax under the new laws against what they currently pay.

The President said the tax calculator also shows how these reforms protect low-income earners.

The Nigerian leader made this known in a statement issued via his X handle @officialABAT on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

President Tinubu said the new tax laws and have lifted the burden and created a true redistribution in the nation’s economy.

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable. With the new tax laws I recently signed, taking effect from January 2026, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy.”

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that President Tinubu officially inked the Tax Reform Bills into law, a significant shift in Nigeria’s tax administration. The move follows months of policy work, reviews, and consultations aimed at modernising a tax system long criticised as complex and unfair.

The new laws include the Nigeria Tax Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board Bill.
