Speaking on Daily Trust TV’s programme Politics Today shared via X on Thursday, August 21, Bugaje said,

“Even those from the South West of the country are complaining. Has he forgotten that he’s the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, not of Oduduwa Republic?”

Bugaje: Public trust declines amid perceived favouritism

Bugaje argued that such perceived partiality erodes public confidence in the federal government.

“Once you do this kind of thing, other people don’t trust you, and they will question the kind of person you are,” he said.

He added that Tinubu's handling of resources and appointments contributes to a growing sense of alienation.

“You took trillions while the health sector is suffering, education is suffering. You are building a coastal road in a company without due process, and people complained, and we did nothing. So many things this government has done are causing citizens to lose trust,” Bugaje said.

Tinubu's appointments: Historical lessons ignored

The activist also warned that ignoring public discontent could have consequences.

“Even if you have the power to kill, arrest, harass, you are only going to be there for a period of time. History shows that anger always bursts out. It has happened in Peru, Argentina, Iran, and so many other countries,” he added.

Bugaje called for greater accountability and the removal of advisers feeding the government misleading narratives.

“This government needs to stop listening to those psycho funds around telling them that everything is fine. This government is not doing well,” he concluded.

El-Rufai also tackles Tinubu's appointments

In another report, former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of appointing his boys from Lagos into political offices.

El-Rufai said the appointments are not balanced and do not even cover the south-west.

He said:

“The president’s appointments are not being made because the appointees are Yoruba, but because they are his own boys. Most of the appointments do not even reasonably cover the South-West."
