Court grants bail following defence counsel plea
Justice Nafisa Lawal Musa, serving as a vacation judge, issued the bail order after hearing a motion brought forward by defence counsel Garba Pwul (SAN) and I.S. Ikutanwa.
The defendants were previously arraigned by the police in Suit No. PLD/115CR/2025 on four counts, including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, mischief with dangerous weapons, and causing grievous harm.
According to the police, the charges contravened Sections 59, 220, 313 and 189 of the Plateau state Law of 2017.
Earlier in July, the defence team had made a similar application before Justice Boniface Ngyong. That request could not be entertained because the court was about to proceed on recess, and the matter was adjourned to October 13, 2025.
Justice Ngyong advised the defendants to seek relief before a vacation judge if they wished to pursue bail before the adjourned date.
Bail granted in "spirit of fairness"
On August 11, 2025, the defence filed a motion on notice, supported by legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution in the Plateau state Ministry of Justice.

The motion requested that the court either discharge the defendants unconditionally or alternatively release them on bail until proceedings resumed.
A court order dated August 14, 2025, confirmed that Justice Musa considered the application and granted the second request for bail.
She explained that the decision was made in the spirit of fairness and did not override the earlier ruling by High Court 10, which had already taken cognizance of the case and adjourned it. The substantive hearing of the matter is expected to continue on October 13, 2025.
Lagos court sends three yahoo boys to prison
Earlier, Legit.ng reported three internet fraudsters arrested during a sting operation at a hotel near the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta have been convicted and sentenced by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, on Monday delivered judgment against Oyatokun Damilola Qudus, Adenekan Adewole Ayinde, and Adisa Okikiade after they pleaded guilty to separate charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC had arraigned the three on one-count charges each, all bordering on impersonation and internet fraud. Court filings showed that Qudus operated an Instagram account under the false identity of “Eric Melissa,” while Ayinde posed as a white woman from the United States through a Google account, and Okikiade impersonated one “Anthony Krenn” on Google.
