FG blacklists KWAM 1

Daily Trust reported that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) blacklisted KWAM 1 from flying in any part of the country for six months after he was captured in video in an unruly behaviour at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja. The Fuji musician was about to board the ValueJet flight from Abuja to Lagos when the incident happened.

The musician reportedly attempted to fly with a liquid substance, which was resisted by the aviation security. The ValueJet pilots then got angry and departed for Lagos. The pilots have been suspended for violation aviation protocols.

From a flask to a flight disruption

According to a detailed incident report filed by Captain Ranti, the pilot in command of ValueJet Flight VK201 to Lagos, the drama began when Kwam 1 approached the aircraft holding a gold flask.

As is standard practice, ground personnel were requested to inspect the flask to confirm its content. But the singer allegedly refused, insisting they had no right to question him.

Captain Ranti said he stepped out of the cockpit in an attempt to de-escalate the tension and personally engage the singer.

The pilot’s report stated that security officials intervened immediately, and Kwam 1 was barred from boarding. He was escorted away by the airport’s AVSEC crime unit for questioning.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident and condemned the breach of aviation safety, noting that Kwam 1 disrupted boarding procedures and refused to leave the aircraft vicinity, even after repeated requests.

Also, the airline ValueJet is said to be considering legal action against the singer over the disruption, which forced delays and led to the suspension of two pilots pending investigation.

KWAM breaks silence on Abuja airport incident

Legit.ng earlier reported that KWAM 1 has responded to accusations of misconduct during a boarding process for a ValueJet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.

In a statement, the veteran performer insisted that, contrary to media reports, he was the victim, not the aggressor, in the now-public incident.
