Civil Service Recruitment: FG Begins Shortlisting of Candidates, Link to Check Name, Details Emerge

FCT, Abuja - The federal government has started shortlisting candidates for recruitment into the Federal Civil Service, months after the announcement of over 70 job openings across various ministries and agencies.

The recruitment drive, announced in January 2025, included roles such as Administrative Officer, Programme Analyst.

Others are: Education Officer, Dentist, Psychologist, Biomedical Engineer, Foreign Affairs Officer, and others.

The call for applications, made through a newspaper advertorial signed by the Director of Recruitment and Appointment, Ogaba Ede, attracted thousands of applicants nationwide.

Applications were submitted via the official recruitment portal, which many applicants found difficult to access due to high traffic.

The initial deadline of March 10 was later extended to March 17 to accommodate more applicants.

Screening process ongoing, says FCSC spokesperson

Addressing public concerns about delays, the head of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Mr Taiwo Hassan, confirmed that the process had not been abandoned, Punch reported.

“We have not been quiet and we have not abandoned the exercise. As a matter of fact, work has been ongoing on the recruitment exercise,” Hassan told our correspondent.
“Candidates have been shortlisted. Those shortlisted have been sent an email on their preferred location for their Computer-Based Test among other details,” he added.

Hassan explained that only candidates who submitted complete applications and met the criteria were selected for the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

“It is not correct to say those who applied have not been contacted. We have picked from those who submitted their applications. These are the ones that will sit for the CBT,” he clarified.

Applicants who have been successfully shortlisted have been advised to check this link to choose the state where they would want to take the CBT exams.

A quick check by Legit.ng revealed that the nation's capital, FCT Abuja, was not part of the listed states for the CBT exams.

Over 2,000 positions available

Although he did not disclose the exact number of shortlisted candidates, earlier reports indicated that 2,130 vacancies were available across various departments in the federal civil service.

Candidates are advised to check their emails regularly and follow the instructions provided for the next stages of the recruitment exercise.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the federal government of Nigeria released a new directive for some applicants in the ongoing Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) recruitment process, urging shortlisted candidates to complete a new form within 72 hours.

In an update on its official platform, the FCSC instructed certain shortlisted applicants to log in to their profiles and confirm their status.

A quick check by Legit.ng revealed that the applicants have just three days to fill in the form as part of the next step in the recruitment process.
