FCT, Abuja - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rewarded each player of the D’Tigress team with $100,000 and a new apartment for winning the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Tinubu also rewarded the team with the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award as a token of appreciation for their success.

The President gave $50,000 to members of the technical crew in recognition of their accomplishments.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented Tinubu at the event, announced the rewards while receiving D’Tigress at the presidential villa.
Nigeria’s women’s basketball team clinched the title on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Palais des Sports de Treichville after defeating Mali 78-64 in the final.
D’Tigress' victory made Nigeria the first country to win five consecutive Women’s Afrobasket championships.
Shettima said each player and official in the team will also be getting a flat in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
D’Tigress also booked an automatic ticket for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin, Germany.
The first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, the chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other dignitaries were present at the D’Tigress reception on Monday, August 4, 2025.
