Akande's history in PDP and APC
Akande, a lawyer by profession, served two consecutive terms in the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ojo Constituency I from 2015 to 2023. Initially elected under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he later switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and secured re-election in 2019.
During his time in office, Akande held the position of Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
Obasa reacts to obituary
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has expressed profound grief over the passing of Hon. Victor Akande, a former member of the Assembly representing Ojo Constituency I.
Hon. Akande, a seasoned lawmaker and legal practitioner, died on Wednesday, July 30.
Speaker Obasa described Hon. Akande’s death as a significant loss to the Lagos State House of Assembly and the state as a whole. He lauded the former lawmaker’s commitment to public service and his significant contributions during his two terms in the Assembly between 2015 and 2023.
“Hon. Akande was a dedicated and diligent lawmaker who served his constituents with passion and integrity. His contributions, especially as Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and LASIEC, were invaluable. He played a crucial role in strengthening our legal framework and promoting justice for all Lagosians,” Speaker Obasa stated.

First class graduate diagnosed with kidney failure
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ezechukwu Ifeanyi Raphael, 27 year-old graduate of Business Administration, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, formerly Anambra State University, Igbariam, had been diagnosed with kidney failure, and needs financial assistance for kidney transplant.
Medical examination had confirmed that Ifeanyi Raphael, a native of Umuchi, Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area of Anambra state, has his two kidneys dead, and requires urgent transplantation to save his life.
