Family Disputes Lead to Deaths, Adamawa Police Investigate

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed ongoing investigations into two separate incidents of culpable homicide resulting from domestic violence in Madagali and Gombi Local Government Areas.
Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a press release issued on Wednesday, revealed that the first incident occurred in Pallam District, Madagali.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a physical altercation took place between two co-wives, Rhoda Anthony, 55, and Victoria Anthony, 36, both married to Anthony Pallam.
During the heated exchange, Victoria’s 16-year-old son, Ijai Anthony, allegedly struck his stepmother, Rhoda Anthony, on the head with a wooden object.
The statement read:
“During the altercation, Victoria’s son, Ijai Anthony, aged 16, reportedly struck his stepmother, Rhoda Anthony, on the head with a piece of wood, causing her to collapse, upon receiving the report the Divisional Police officer Madagali Promptly mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital Madagali, but was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment.”
Authorities have since taken both Victoria and her son into protective custody as investigations continue.
Son accused of fatally stabbing father
In a related incident in Fotta District, Gombi LGA, police received a distress report involving another case of domestic violence that escalated fatally. SP Nguroje stated that a suspect, identified as Idi Buba, reportedly attacked his biological father, Buba Jelli, during a domestic altercation.
“The Command received a distress report that one Idi Buba attacked his biological father, Buba Jelli, by stabbing him on the neck and back with a knife, following a domestic altercation. The victim was immediately rushed to the Primary Health Care Center in Fotta, where he sadly died while receiving treatment.”
The suspect was arrested on the scene, and the knife used in the attack has been recovered and classified as an exhibit in the ongoing investigation.

Police commissioner condemns family violence
Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned the violent incidents and emphasised the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means.
He urged residents of Adamawa to refrain from vigilantism and to seek lawful avenues for conflict resolution. He assured that investigations are progressing and that all suspects would face prosecution upon completion of inquiries.
Man ‘kills’ wife 8 months after wedding
Legit.ng earlier reported that operatives of the Edo state police command have arrested one Kelvin Izekor for allegedly killing his 38-year-old wife Success Izekor. The suspect committed the crime on February 22, 2025, at their residence in Upper Mission Extension, Benin City.
As reported by TheCable, witnesses said the man allegedly hit his wife with a cutlass on the head. The cutlass attack resulted in deep cuts and her eventual death eight months after their wedding ceremony.
