Buhari: Former President finally laid to rest
The remains of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari were laid to rest at his residence in Daura, his hometown in Katsina state, at about 5:50 PM, according to Daily Trust.
The body, which left the United Kingdom earlier on Tuesday, July 15, was received at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina by President Tinubu.

According to Dele Momodu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will be attending Buhari's funeral in Daura.
The former vice president reportedly made a swift return from an international business engagement, landing at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
"He is heading to Daura to attend the solemn Jana’iza for the late President Buhari. The urgency of the occasion was palpable as he prepared to pay his respects to the deceased," Momodu said.

Buhari's remain depart London for Nigeria
The body of former President Muhammadu Buhari has departed London for Nigeria, according to Bashir Ahmad, the late former president's ex-assistant.
"Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is accompanying the body, which will be received later today, in Katsina by President Bola Tinubu ahead of burial in his hometown, Daura, according to Islamic rites," he posted on X.

The federal government has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of the late Buhari.
According to a statement released by the permanent secretary of the ministry of interior, Magdalene Ajani, the holiday is in furtherance of the seven days of national mourning declared by President Bola Tinubu.

Katsina governor's former aide provides key update on Buhari's burial
Isah Miqdad, a former aide on digital media to Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina state, on Monday afternoon, July 14, said Buhari's body would arrive in Katsina at noon on Tuesday, July 15.
Subsequently, his burial rites would follow.
Miqdad wrote on his known X (formerly Twitter) page:
"President Buhari's body is scheduled to arrive in Katsina at 12 noon tomorrow, with the burial rites set to commence in Daura at 2:00 pm on the same day - as announced by Governor Radda of Katsina state."
Bashir Ahmad, Buhari's former aide, also noted the update.
Shettima arrives London to receive Buhari's body
Vice-President Kashim Shettima, on Monday, July 14, arrived in London on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Shettima was accompanied by the chief of staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
