American rapper Cardi B has walked free from a multimillion-dollar lawsuit after a Los Angeles jury sided with her in a bizarre case involving long fingernails, a security guard, and a private doctor’s visit, reports the BBC.
Emani Ellis, a security guard, had accused Cardi B of assault, battery, negligence, false imprisonment, and emotional distress, demanding $24m in damages.
According to Ellis, the rapper cut her cheek with a 3-inch nail and spat on her during a heated argument outside an obstetrician’s office in 2018.

At the time, Cardi B was four months pregnant with her first child, a detail that had not yet been made public.
Cardi B’s testimony
Taking the stand, the WAP hitmaker admitted there had been a profanity-laced shouting match but denied laying a finger on Ellis.
The American superstar told reporters after the verdict:
“I work all day and I work hard for my money, for my kids, for the people that I take care of. So don’t you ever think that you’re going to sue me, and I’m just going to settle."
She also urged her loyal fans not to harass Ellis or her family now that the case was over.
The rapper explained that she only lost her cool because Ellis was recording her on the phone and refused to back away.
At that time, Cardi said she feared for her unborn baby’s safety since her pregnancy wasn’t public knowledge.
