VDM Emotionally Drags Nigerians, FG Over Phyna's Sister's Death: "Now Everyone Is Posting"
- Nigerian activist Verydarkman expressed deep frustration over the death of Phyna's sister, Ruth, who died after a Dangote truck accident
- He criticised the silence of the public, bloggers, and authorities during Ruth’s hospitalisation, slamming delayed action and hypocrisy
- He condemned the government's inaction, Dangote Group’s negligence, and the system’s failure to respond responsibly before her death
Nigerian activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has reacted emotionally to the tragic death of Ruth, the sister of reality TV star Phyna, who reportedly died after being hit by a Dangote truck allegedly driven by an unlicensed driver.
In a video posted on Instagram on Sunday, 31st August, Verydarkman criticised the Nigerian public, bloggers, and government institutions for their silence during the critical days when Ruth was hospitalised, only to begin engaging with the story after her death.

According to him, Ruth spent 19 days in the hospital following the accident, yet little to no public attention was given to the incident until it was too late.
He condemned the initial lack of pressure on the Dangote Group while Ruth was alive, stating that earlier attention might have compelled the company to act more responsibly.
Verydarkman also spoke on the hypocrisy of social media users who are now sharing the story, despite ignoring calls for action earlier.
VDM blasts Nigerian government
Verydarkman also took aim at the Nigerian government and the Dangote Group, saying that the use of unlicensed drivers by such a powerful company, and the absence of accountability from authorities, reflect a broader national failure.
He questioned why Phyna's sister was not immediately taken abroad for treatment; instead, she was transferred to Lagos, and the process was delayed until she died.
VDM ended his statement with a strong condemnation of the failure in the system, emphasising that the government and elite institutions had failed the Nigerian people.

Commentator urges VDM, Phyna to unite for justice
Anuoluwapo Lebi, public speaker and author, has weighed in on the fallout between reality star Phyna and activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) following the tragic incident involving Phyna’s younger sister, Ruth Otabor.
Lebi told Legit.ng:
“This brings us to Phyna and VeryDarkMan (Martins Vincent Otse). In the wake of Ruth’s tragedy, VDM threw his weight behind Phyna, mounting pressure on Dangote’s empire. But when negotiations began, Phyna suddenly distanced herself, saying VDM’s services were no longer needed.”
He, however, cautioned against division, saying:
“Phyna may have acted under pressure, but her misstep should not fracture the struggle. VDM must see beyond personal slights and embrace the bigger picture.”
Lebi stressed the importance of unity, declaring:
“Nigerians cannot afford disunity when the stakes are life and death. VDM and Phyna must reconcile, bury their hatchets, and stand together for justice.”
Izutech speaks on Phyna's sister's accident
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Nollywood actor Izutech accused Phyna of misleading the public about her sister Ruth's accident involving a Dangote truck.
He claimed the bikeman (who conveyed Phyna's sister when the accident occurred) Phyna claimed is dead, is alive and still operating in the area.
Izutech questioned inconsistencies in Phyna’s account, urging her to reveal the bike man's identity and provide proof of her claims.
Editorial assistant Ololade Olatimehin provided exclusive commentary from a public speaker for this report.
