Jay-Z Sets Untouchable Feat, Becomes World’s Richest Musician, Forbes Shares His Net Worth
- Rap icon Jay-Z officially crowned the world’s richest musician with a jaw-dropping $2.5 billion fortune
- His wealth goes beyond music, from champagne and cognac brands to tech, real estate, and fashion.
- Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Beyoncé also made the billionaire list, but none come close to Jay-Z’s empire
When hip-hop legend Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, rapped about being a business, not just a businessman, many thought it was a metaphor. Today, it is a fact.
According to Forbes, Jay-Z has officially become the world’s richest musician with a net worth of $2.5 billion. The Roc Nation boss has not only redefined rap but also built a business empire that places him in a league of his own.
To put it in a Nigerian context, only Aliko Dangote ($24b), Abdul Samad Rabiu ($7.4b), and Mike Adenuga ($7bn) are richer than the American rap legend. His wealth eclipsed that of Femi Otedola ($1.2b), who is Nigeria’s fourth richest man.

Sources of Jay-Z’s billions
According to Forbes, his luxury champagne brand Armand de Brignac (popularly called Ace of Spades) and cognac line D’Ussé have become global staples in luxury drinking culture.
He famously sold a 50% stake of D’Ussé to Bacardi in a multi-million-dollar deal that boosted his portfolio.
The Brooklyn-born rapper also cashed out massively from the sale of his music streaming platform Tidal, as well as his clothing brand Rocawear. Add to that investments in real estate, hospitality, tech startups, and sports management under Roc Nation, and it’s clear why his numbers keep climbing.
Taylor Swift becomes richest female musician
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, fresh off her record-breaking Eras Tour, has officially joined the billionaire club with a reported net worth of $1.6 billion. Rihanna, thanks to her globally successful Fenty Beauty brand, continues to shine as one of the richest female entertainers alive.
Beyoncé, Jay-Z’s superstar wife, is also on the list. However, despite her decades of dominance in music, film, and fashion, her wealth is still far behind Jay-Z’s staggering numbers.
