“I can’t date a younger man. There’s no need to. I’ve done it before, but I don’t want to do it again. When I dated the younger man, I was having fun, and it was for a season. That season is over.”
For Shaffy, dating a younger man was never meant to be a long-term plan; it was a phase that matched where she was emotionally.
While some women shy away from attention, the actress stated she still receives plenty of it, from men much younger than her. But not all DMs are created equal.
She admitted:
“Yes, men still slide into my DM. When you’re over 50 and young men still slide into your DM, that’s flattering. Some will come and say, ‘Hi dear.’ You know, you just want to insult their mother.”
Shaffy also made it clear that she's not closing the door on love, but the criteria have changed.
She stated:
“I know for sure what I want now is marriage. I don’t mind marriage, but I have a very different opinion when it comes to what we [Nigerians] believe marriage is.”
According to her, many people are too rigid about what marriage should look like.
While she didn’t dive deep into her unique take, she hinted that she’s not subscribing to societal pressure or outdated expectations.

@Loadedbrodah:
"She's finding it difficult to say she wants an open marriage. She wants something like Paulo and Iyabo Ojo. That's low-key what many women want but can't say it openly because of culture and society and home training."
@mroieniola:
"You were once married, you left marriage, you enjoyed life and career, now old age is something you don't do alone. No, there's no need to get married. The circus, and it's just fair."
