Nigerian Teenagers from Yobe State Emerge Victorious at Global Competition, Win Plaudits

Potiskum, Yobe state - Three young talents from Yobe State, Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu (17), Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), and Hadiza Kashim Kalli, took top honours at the 2025 TeenEagle Global finals in London, United Kingdom, winning the title of World Champion in English language communication and debate.

The trio of winners hail from Yobe State and are students at Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), a Turkish school in Mamudo, within Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe.
The international competition assessed participants' receptive skills (reading and listening) alongside productive skills (writing and speaking).
In standout performances, Nafisa clinched the top spot for English language skills, Rukayya topped the charts in debate, and Hadiza received the Outstanding Talent Award with a Gold Medal.
According to Mr. Haseebullah Jogi, the principal of NTIC Yobe state, who accompanied the students to London, the event started with an online qualifying round, which extended to the esteemed global finals, as reported by Daily Trust.
From July 27 to August 3, the TeenEagle finals were held at the University of Surrey in the UK. With over 900 students representing 46 countries in attendance, the three students from NTIC Yobe State Campus stood out among the crowd, earning accolades that brought honour to their school, state, and nation.
According to the principal, Nigeria was represented by eight students, five from NTIC Abuja and three from NTIC Yobe. He explained that the students were accompanied by himself, a parent, a teacher, and the principal of NTIC Abuja.
“A huge congratulations to our brilliant students and their dedicated teachers for these remarkable achievements. We are very proud of them, and we are planning to celebrate them in our own way,” he said.
The 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu's remarkable feat at the TeenEagle finals has since garnered praise across the world, as she outperformed students from native English-speaking countries in a competition renowned for its rigorous assessment of English proficiency, critical thinking, and communication skills.
