Ex-Minister Announces Free Phone Repairs, AI Training for Nigerian Youths, Shares Link to Apply

The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation (PIP Foundation) has announced its third training programme, offering free courses in phone repair and artificial intelligence (AI).

The foundation said it plans to train more than 10,000 young Nigerians.

Pantami foundation skills for training

The initiative, announced in a statement signed by Prof. Suleiman Mohammed seeks to equip participants with practical, in-demand skills to boost self-reliance, entrepreneurship and job creation.

The foundation, established by Isa Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, said the scheme forms part of its strategy to reduce unemployment and prepare youths to thrive in the digital economy, Guardian reports.

Part of the statement reads, citing World Economic Forum data:

“AI and other emerging technologies are expected to create 170 million new jobs globally.“We must ensure that our citizens are prepared to benefit from these opportunities.
“This initiative reflects Professor Pantami’s commitment to lift communities through education and technology.
“We are not just training individuals; we are building a future where our youth can create opportunities for themselves and others.”

The foundation said that applications for the first phase of the programme, which targets residents of Gombe State, opened on August 25 and will close on August 31.

Training schedules for other states will be announced later, the foundation noted.

It was also revealed that the training is expected to last for one month.

The foundation added:

"Learn to repair smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices using modern tools and techniques in an intensive one-month programme designed to suit different needs.
"The training is delivered by certified professionals with years of experience in mobile device repair, ensuring that participants acquire both practical and technical expertise.
"Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded an industry-recognised certificate, equipping them with the skills and credentials to pursue opportunities in the fast-growing mobile repair industry.
"The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation is dedicated to empowering young people with practical technology skills that create sustainable livelihoods and drive economic growth in our communities."

FG launches website to recruit 100,000 youths

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government has launched a website to recruit and train 100,000 Nigerian youths annually.

The youths will be trained in financial literacy, global trade, entrepreneurship, and investing.

The training programme will be done in collaboration with Investonaire Academy.
